Travelling with your dog
Would you like to take your dog with you on the trip? Your four-legged friend is welcome on our trains, buses and ships.
Dogs and small pets are allowed to travel with you on public transport. For your dog you will need a second class ticket or the Dog Pass or the Day Pass Dog. Small dogs with a wither height of up to 30cm may travel free of charge if they are carried in a pet carrier.
You can obtain the Dog Pass and the Day Pass Dog from the BLS Webshop or from your nearest BLS Travel Centre or at any staffed railway ticket counter.
Good to know
Day Pass Dog
The Day Pass Dog are not restricted to any class and are valid in first and second class. However, the accompanying person must have a valid ticket for the corresponding class.
Dog Pass
Before your journey
At the station, bus stop or wharf, you must keep your dog on a leash or leave it in a pet carrier.
During your journey
Please note that your dogs are not allowed on seats. On many trains there are seats in what are termed multifunction areas with ample floor space. If your dog is travelling free of charge in a pet carrier, it must remain inside it for the duration of the journey. If possible, choose trains that are less crowded. Occupancy levels for any train can be checked for your connection in our online timetable.
Conductors are available to assist on our RegioExpress trains. They will gladly show you the best place for yourself and your dog.
