Mothers Pass

With the Mothers Pass, expectant mothers travel 1st class with BLS for 6 months at no extra charge. This means more comfort during pregnancy. The Mothers Pass is available at all BLS Travel Centres or can be ordered using the following form. Please enclose a copy of the medical certificate or maternity pass. The submitted document is used to verify the pregnancy and will then be cancelled.

Where and for whom is the Mothers Pass valid?

• The Mothers Pass is valid on all BLS trains and on BLS scheduled services. The Mothers Pass is not valid on other transport companies (e.g. SBB, RBS etc.).
• To benefit from the Mothers Pass, you always need a valid 2nd class ticket.
• The Mothers Pass is only available to women resident in Switzerland.
• Your children up to the age of 6 and your children up to the age of 16 also benefit from the free change of class if you have a Junior travelcard. Other accompanying persons require a corresponding ticket to travel in 1st class.
• The Mothers Pass is valid for 6 months and you can decide for yourself when you want to order it during your pregnancy. It remains valid after the birth as long as the 6 months have not yet expired.
• You can benefit from the Mothers Pass several times, but only once per pregnancy.
