The travelcard for night owls
Are you under 25 and often out and about after 7.00 p.m.? If so, the GA Night is the right choice for you. With the GA Night, you enjoy free travel within the GA range of validity each day from 7.00 p.m. until 5.00 a.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays until 7.00 a.m. – for just CHF 99 per year.
GA Night is the new name for what was previously the seven25 abo. It now costs just CHF 99 instead of CHF 390 per year and can be purchased directly from the BLS webshop or via the BLS Mobil public transport app.
Purchase & payment
Online
You can easily purchase the GA Night online from the BLS webshop or via the BLS Mobil app. Your customer number (000-000-000-0) is required for this. If you don’t have one of these already, an online identity check will be carried out when you make your first purchase. You will need a passport or an ID card, a smartphone with a camera and a recent, high-quality digital passport photo.
If you would like to buy the GA Night for your children, this is also possible, provided you and the child have a SwissPass card including linked SwissPass login.
Staffed ticket offices
Alternatively, you can also purchase the GA Night at your local BLS travel centre or at a staffed public transport ticket office. In this case, please bring your SwissPass with you. If you don’t have a SwissPass, please bring a recent analogue or digital passport photo and your passport or ID card.
Extension
The GA Night travelcard is not automatically renewed. However, you will receive a corresponding e-mail in good time reminding you of the upcoming expiry date. If you still wish to have a GA Night travelcard, simply purchase a new one.
Range of validity
With the GA Night, you can travel without restriction between 19.00 and 05.00 until your 25th birthdas on the routes of BLS and most other Swiss railways, on ships, in post buses and on urban local transport. However, there are some exceptions and restrictions, so we recommend to find out the exact range of validity before beginning your journey.
FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How soon will I receive my GA Travelcard?
If you already have a SwissPass, you can use your GA Travelcard from the first day of validity. Otherwise, the GA Travelcard on the SwissPass will be sent by post within approx. 10 days.
What should I do if the train arrives after 05.00 or 07.00?
For routes that you travel after 05.00 or 07.00, please buy a ticket.
Are there discounts on routes outside the range of validity?
Yes, the range of validity map shows all rail and shipping companies where you pay the reduced price between 19.00 and 05.00 (or 07.00 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays).
Can I return my GA Night?
You cannot deposit or return your GA Night. A refund is therefore only possible if you purchase a GA Travelcard from the regular GA range instead.
Is a half-fare travelcard required to purchase the GA Night?
No, a half-fare travelcard is not required.
What should I do if the train leaves before 19.00?
If the train departs before 19.00, you must purchase a route ticket for the section of the journey up to the first stop that is reached after 19.00.
Are night surcharges included in the GA Night travelcard?
No, night surcharges must be paid additionally.
