Non-destructive material testing
Suitable test methods for safety-relevant components
Our range of services includes non-destructive material testing of safety-relevant components from the railway sector (e.g. axles, solid wheels, drums, buffers, etc.) as well as NDT consulting by staff with level 3 training. Our employees are qualified and certified in accordance with ISO 9712. We also offer mobile deployment at customers' premises
Our services
Residual stress measurement
During the heat treatment of new solid wheels, residual stresses are specifically generated in the area of the wheel rims. The aim of heat treatment is to generate residual compressive stresses in the wheel rim in order to prevent or delay the formation and growth of cracks.
VT testing (visual testing)
Visual test inspection is the process of locating and evaluating surface-related quality features such as deviations in shape, imperfections and the surface quality of a product with the human eye or using optical aids (e.g. magnifying glass, microscope, endoscope, etc.).
PT testing (penetrant testing)
Penetrant testing is a non-destructive testing method that is one of the surface methods. The method, based on the principles of capillary action, is used to visually detect material separations open to the surface (e.g. cracks and pores).
MT testing (magnetic particle testing)
Magnetic particle testing is used to detect surface material separations in ferromagnetic materials (primarily steel) and offers the highest sensitivity for the detection of surface cracks.
UT testing (ultrasonic testing)
Ultrasonic testing is a volume method for non-destructive testing. It is used to detect inhomogeneities of all kinds, both in the entire cross-section and on the surfaces of test objects made of sound-conducting materials.
