Multi-voltage test system (MVTS)

Four test voltages – one test system

MVTS is connected to the regional 16 kV grid. Two transformers are used to transform the voltage to 25 kV and 1.172 kV, which supplies the 25 kV switchgear and the 1.5 kV / 3 kV rectification system respectively. The 15 kV system is connected directly to the BLS Netz AG railway network.

A cable conduit system connects the various voltage systems to a central switching station in the track area. The required test voltage is fed from this via a cable connection to the overhead conductor rail in the test bay, where the locomotives can be tested. All test voltages can be selected fully automatically from one control station.

A wagon preheating system for 1.5kV and 3kV DC is also supplied by the multi-voltage test system. This allows testing of the heating and air conditioning of the international passenger coaches of the RIC regime

We have extensive experience and certificates for the country-specific tests of locomotives and train control systems in Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands.
