Within BLS, strategic sustainability officers coordinate the activities of all business units. Together with the Executive Board and the Board of Directors, they are responsible for monitoring progress and setting targets in the area of sustainability. Persons responsible for sustainability have also been defined in all business units. 

Thanks to the holistic governance structure, BLS ensures that sustainability is not just seen as an isolated initiative, but is a central component of the company's overall development and direction.

A positive and open corporate culture includes compliance with legal, ethical and internal company rules. Employees can report irregularities to their line manager or to the Compliance Office, and BLS also provides an externally managed reporting centre for whistleblowers. Here, possible misconduct can be reported anonymously by any affected parties (employees, suppliers, partners, customers and third parties). Incoming reports are forwarded to the Compliance Office, which triages and investigates them. Every report is reviewed thoroughly.

Relationships with suppliers and payment practices

BLS promotes mutual trust through regular dialogue with suppliers and cultivates long-term relationships within the scope of what is legally possible. The Code of Conduct for Suppliers and the Guidelines for Responsible Procurement support positive and ethical business behaviour. BLS continuously reviews and improves its standards to ensure sustainable cooperation on an equal footing.
